Anchor Control. Without Compromise.
In complex systems, performance often depends on the smallest details. Control interfaces may represent a single component within a larger assembly, yet they frequently determine how confidently that system operates in real conditions.
Barantech is proud to expand its portfolio of advanced control solutions for the marine industry with the introduction of the new Windlass Switch. Designed as a marine-grade, reliable switch for windlass and winch applications, it enables smooth and precise raising and lowering of the anchor, even with wet hands, foot, or gloves in demanding conditions. By applying the proven reliability of solid-state piezo technology, the Windlass Switch supports one of the most critical onboard operations.
In many applications, Barantech technology operates behind the scenes. Sometimes it forms part of a complete control panel. Sometimes it is integrated discreetly within a larger customer system. Whether visible or embedded within a customized interface, the switch remains a defining element of performance.
Anchor deployment and retrieval place constant demands on their interface, from salt water exposure and vibration to UV radiation and mechanical stress. The Windlass Switch was engineered to deliver consistent, predictable performance under these conditions without compromise.
Advancing Windlass Performance Through Piezo Technology
Unlike traditional mechanical switches that rely on moving contacts susceptible to fatigue and corrosion, the Barantech Windlass Switch uses solid-state piezo technology. Pressure is detected electronically rather than through mechanical movement, eliminating the primary source of mechanical wear.
This architecture fundamentally improves long-term reliability. Without internal contacts, springs, or membranes, there is no contact erosion, no mechanical fatigue, and no progressive degradation of actuation performance. The switch maintains consistent response characteristics even under repetitive use and sustained environmental exposure.
The interface is fully sealed to IP67 standards, protecting against water ingress, humidity, shock, vibration, and UV stress without compromising functionality.
Beyond durability, solid-state technology enhances precision. Because actuation does not depend on mechanical travel, response characteristics remain stable throughout the product’s lifecycle. In critical control applications, predictable and repeatable response is essential.
Built for Harsh Environments
Environmental resistance is not achieved through sealing alone, material selection plays a defining role.
The Windlass Switch is housed in marine-grade stainless steel, selected for its superior resistance to corrosion and structural stress.
Compared to standard stainless grades, our product provides enhanced resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in salt-rich environments.
This ensures long-term durability even in continuously exposed installations. The housing is designed to protect internal electronics while maintaining dimensional stability under vibration and impact.
Combined with its sealed construction, this layered protection supports operational integrity over time.
Electrical Performance
The Windlass Switch is designed for 12V DC systems and incorporates a relay module rated up to 20A, supporting demanding windlass and winch loads. By separating the activation interface from the relay module, high-current switching is isolated from the control surface, preserving signal precision and long-term stability.
The snap-on relay module simplifies integration while maintaining system robustness. Interchangeable relay configurations allow adaptation across different layouts and electrical architectures, supporting OEM manufacturers, refitters and integrators, working within diverse system requirements.
This modular design reinforces a key principle: performance and installation efficiency should coexist without compromise.
Designed for Confident Operation
During anchor deployment or retrieval, response clarity matters. The Windlass Switch is calibrated within a 3–7N actuation range, balancing responsiveness with deliberate activation. Because activation is pressure-based rather than travel-based, the interface can be operated by hand, foot, or gloved touch without loss of precision.
Integrated red or blue LED ring illumination provides clear feedback in both daylight and low-light conditions. Illumination is engineered for visibility without glare, supporting confident operation when conditions demand focus. This combination of tactile precision and visual clarity reinforces the role of the switch as a small component with a measurable operational impact.
Engineered for Seamless Integration
The Windlass Switch is engineered for clean and efficient installation. Pre-configured wiring and a snap-on relay module simplify electrical connection while preserving system robustness. The separation between the activation interface and the relay architecture allows high-current switching to remain isolated, maintaining control precision and long-term stability.
Designed as a standalone interface, the switch can be panel-mounted with ease, supporting both new builds and refit applications without introducing unnecessary complexity.
By combining structural durability with installation simplicity, the Windlass Switch delivers dependable performance without complicating system design.
A Critical Detail Within a Larger System
In advanced control environments, it is often the individual interface components that define the performance of the whole. A switch may appear minor within a larger assembly, yet it directly influences operational confidence, system reliability, and long-term maintenance requirements.
By combining:
- Marine-grade reliability for windlass and winch applications
- Solid-state piezo technology with no moving parts
- Stainless steel construction
- Fully sealed IP67 protection against water and environmental exposure
- Snap-on modular relay architecture rated up to 20A
- Touch operation responsive to hand, foot, or gloves
- Integrated red or blue LED ring illumination
The Barantech Windlass Switch delivers a purpose-built solution for dependable windlass control.
Reliable anchor handling begins with reliable interface design. Through disciplined engineering, material selection, and modular system architecture, the Windlass Switch strengthens the foundation of consistent and confident operation onboard.
As control systems continue to evolve toward higher reliability and lower maintenance demands, durable solid-state components play an increasingly important role. With the Windlass Switch, Barantech reinforces its commitment to engineering details that strengthen the performance of the whole.
